In Conversation with Sameer Bellubbi, VP of Product & Customer Success at ION Energy
We’re excited to welcome Sameer Bellubbi as our new VP of Product & Customer Success. We sat down with him to discuss why he decided to join ION Energy, what challenges he’s looking forward to tackling, what kind of people he’s looking for to join his team, and much more! “The green (read as EV) revolution in the automotive (2W/3W/4W) world is real, and Maxwell (Advanced electronics business unit of ION Energy) is playing a significant role in this by building the state-of-art BMS to the market. Over the years, companies have realized that for them to succeed, they need to enable their customers to succeed, whether it is B2B or B2C. I am excited to lead a team of such talented product engineers and customer success engineers who thrive on making the product better and better suited to the market’s needs.“
Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
I’m so excited to be a part of the ION family! I’ve spent the past 12 years building software in various senior product management roles. I graduated from V.P. Dr PG Halakatti College of Engineering and Technology under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka, majoring in Electronics and Communication. After graduating, I worked on battery management systems and e-mobility solutions for European, North American and Asian OEMs.
I have been happily married to Vanishri for ten years with two beautiful kids, Shrivatsa and Srushti, who keep my hands full while I am not working and, most importantly, help me maintain sanity.
Moving forward, I want to be a part of the team that builds a high-standard product that will transform the global e-mobility space.
What responsibilities will you have as the new VP of Product & Customer Success at ION Energy?
I will be responsible for redefining how companies are achieving their dream of an #AllElectric future while putting ION Energy on a path that will help us grow and move towards its vision.
I will also be responsible for influencing the Product and Customer Success team culture and fostering an environment full of energy, enthusiasm and excitement as we move towards our mission. My ultimate goal is to build an environment where people can grow, do their #LifesBestWork and contribute to ION’s continued success.
Ultimately, I think the sky’s the limit – what we’re doing at ION Energy will shape the future of mobility, and there are many opportunities ahead of us. I’m excited about the ride!
What excited you about the opportunity to join ION Energy?
Firstly, the team and the culture – I wanted to be with a group of individuals rallying together, focused on the one common goal of reinstating excellent service to our customers. I knew ION would be a good choice when it all came together: a winning team obsessed with customer success.
Secondly, state of the art Battery Management Solutions (#BMS) is a need of the hour globally to support the e-mobility revolution. ION Energy’s comprehensive solution to deploy, track and improve the BMS and EV market will revolutionize how we look at BMS and Batteries.
What does customer success mean to you? How will you measure success in this role?
When I think about customer success, the first thing that comes to mind is ‘Feedback-Driven Development.’
For me, customer success is to ensure that the customer gets value from Maxwell in all forms, including world-class products, a complete ecosystem to maximize the use of our products, and the industry’s technical know-how through our ever-growing talented team. The talented customer success team at ION is very deeply involved and attentive towards the customer and market needs.
In today’s fast-paced environment, time to market is as critical as the technological edge of the product. In this role, my goal will be to enable the customer to deploy the ION energy products to the broad markets with cutting edge technology faster than the rest of the competition.
What according to you are the most critical aspects of customer success?
For many, success is a short term business outcome. Here at ION energy, we focus on building trust and products that the customer can rely on for years. This can be built with quality and transparency with customers in sharing honest feedback and ideas. Overall, communication is the key!
While the attention to the customer pain points and issues remain the focal point of this role, fostering a culture of quality, transparency, and a vision for a futuristic product will take the customer’s success to the next level.
What will be your priority in your new role at ION Energy?
On the product end, I will focus on leading an efficient product innovation process to identify new opportunities on an ongoing basis, pivot when necessary and continuously deliver high-quality products and solutions to our customers.
Simultaneously, I will also focus on helping our customers succeed by speaking their language, building relationships and providing solutions that solve real problems. My priorities all start with learning about our customers.
Finally, as a team leader, I’m here to support the team and give the team a face and voice in the company. I’m here to challenge our engineers on their growth opportunities and how we collaborate.
And finally, what drives you to work every day?
My generation has been lucky enough to see all the amazing things that the embedded systems/IoT can do to this world in the last 2-3 decades, be it the ever-improving television or the superfast-super capable cell phones. The world, government and people have decided that the next decade will be driven by #emobility. The excitement of being part of this revolution keeps me going day after day, year after year. ION Energy has provided me with the opportunity to lead a team of engineers who are making a powerful impact in this revolution.
